Common questions

I need one for camping and one for home. Do I need two different nodes?
Yes — the Home Node (NS-100) is designed to stay plugged in at your house as a permanent relay, while the Field Node (NS-200) runs on battery and goes in your pack. They work together on the same mesh channel automatically.
Do I need to configure anything when it arrives?
No. Every node ships pre-flashed with your chosen firmware and pre-configured for immediate use. Meshtastic and MeshCore nodes include a quick-start card that gets you connected in under five minutes via the mobile app. Reticulum nodes ship as a provisioned RNode with setup instructions for rnodeconf. No command line work, no firmware flashing required on your end.
Can I order in bulk for a CERT team?
Yes — for groups of 5 or more, get in touch and we'll configure all devices to the same channel, provide a group discount, and include a reference card for every team member.
Does the Super Node really need no maintenance?
In good sun, yes. The NS-300 uses a 5W monocrystalline solar panel with up to 12,000 mAh of 18650 battery capacity, keeping it topped off through extended cloudy periods. The IP67-rated enclosure is fully sealed against dust and water immersion. Mount it on a wall or pole, configure it once via BLE, and it runs unattended indefinitely.
Can I get a node pre-configured for a specific channel and region?
Yes. Add a note at checkout with your desired channel name, pre-shared key, and frequency region (US 915 MHz is default). All nodes in a group order are configured identically.
What's the difference between Meshtastic, MeshCore, and Reticulum?
All three are open-source LoRa mesh protocols — the hardware is the same, only the firmware changes. Meshtastic is the most widely used, with a polished mobile app, GPS position sharing, and a large community network. MeshCore is a newer, leaner alternative with a focus on low latency and efficient routing, compatible with many of the same devices. Reticulum (flashed as an RNode) is a cryptographically secure networking stack designed for fully decentralized, censorship-resistant communications — it's the choice for privacy-focused users, operators building backbone infrastructure, and anyone who wants to run applications like Nomad Network or LXMF over LoRa. Not sure which is right for you? Add a note at checkout or contact us and we'll help you decide.
